The verdict is in for a Charlottesville man accused of killing another man with one punch.

The two day trial ended today with a not guilty verdict for 32-year-old Sean Orlando Scott.

This all stems from a fight that broke out last April at the Westhaven public housing complex. Scott threw a punch that knocked down 49-year-old Gregory Eugene Johnson.

The commonwealth's attorney was trying to prove it was that blow that caused Johnson to hit his head on the pavement and suffer injuries, which he later died from.

Scott's lawyer however argued Scott was attacked and acted in self defense, and that is apparently what the jury also believed. Scott's attorney said he was happy with the verdict and he felt justice was served, but that he also felt compassion for the Johnson family.

Scott was facing a maximum of 10 years in jail for voluntary manslaughter or up to 12 months for battery.
