Many people in our area go hungry everyday and one local organization feeds about 130 thousand people every year.

The Blue Ridge Area Food Bank is hosting Taste This! where chefs donate their cooking skills to raise money. A majority of their clients aren't homeless, but part of the working poor who just can't afford all of their bills.

"There is a big gap between folks who's salary is not keeping up with the cost of living at this point and they're having to make the difficult choices between their utilities or their medical care and providing food to their family and we're able to help them out in that regard," said Ruth Worrell of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank Network.

The event is Tuesday, June 13 at 5:30 p.m. at Sponsors Hall. You can buy a ticket at the C-ville Weekly, Greenberry's or the Market Street Wineshops for $35 in advance or $40 at the door.
