Virginia State Police are investigating an early Tuesday morning crash on Interstate-64.
The crash occurred near mile marker 118, in which the driver got pinned under her car.
The woman was driving next to a tractor trailer when she lost control of her car. The vehicle then veered into the median and she was ejected.
"The tractor trailer driver who she initially was behind saw the whole accident, and he pulled over to the shoulder of the roadway, [and] jumped out with a lift jack. So [there's] a pretty good chance that if he didn't have the jack to jump out with his quick response, it may have been a fatal accident," said Trooper Kevin Frazier of the Virginia State Police.
The woman was not wearing her seat belt. She was taken to the hospital where her condition is not known.
Charges are pending.
