State Police have identified the aircraft that crashed in southern Albemarle County Wednesday afternoon killing two men on board.
It is a six-seat Beech aircraft. People familiar with this type of plane say it is a very reliable single engine plane. It can reach high speeds and has long-range capabilities. The pilot has to be trained to fly that particular plane.
The investigation has been turned over to The Federal Aviation Administration. They will be working with the National Transportation Safety Board to find out if the crash was weather-related or due to a possible malfunction.
