If you're planning on being away this holiday weekend, remember to safe guard your home against burglars.

Burglary is a crime of opportunity so if you do not provide the opportunity, you are less likely to be a victim.

Make your house looks lived in, be sure the blinds are up, and windows and doors are locked.

“Don't stop your newspaper or you mail, other wise have a neighbor or trusted friend check on your house. Make sure you put timers on your lights et cetera, and make sure all your insurance coverages are up to date,” said AAA Spokeswoman Martha Mitchell.

The number of house burglaries is highest during the summer months.
