The University of Virginia Medical Center received top rankings from U.S. News & World Report.
Nearly 6,000 hospitals were studied in sixteen different specialties. But only three percent were ranked, with UVa being one of them. UVa had five specialties ranked this year, but their hope for the future is to see more specialties make the rankings.
"It would be nice to have each and every clinical specialty ranked, but we're pleased with what we have, but we aspire for more," explained Vice President and CEO of the UVa Medical Center, R. Edward Howell.
UVa's Endocrinology Department has ranked in the top ten every year since the 1990s. This year they ranked sixth out of 176.
