Swimmers in Fluvanna took to the pool to not only get some exercise, but also to raise money.
The Jefferson Swim League held a Swim-A-Thon to benefit three Fluvanna charities. Kids from the league recruited family, friends, and businesses to sponsor them in the race.
With 87 swimmers taking part, the group was able to donate a total of $2,700 to the SPCA, Habitat For Humanity, and the Children's Hospital.
"The kids did an awesome job. It was a lot of fun and they're starting to appreciate giving back to the community," said Rick Collins of the Jefferson Swim League.
The Jefferson Swim League said the event was such a success that they hope to get the Special Olympics swim team involved next year, and plan to increase the amount of charities.
