A man who works closely with Madison County school buses, and sometimes with the county's students is in jail facing charges of having sex with a minor. One simple phone call has the man facing trial.
"A parent notified the Madison County Sheriff's Office in reference to an adult having inappropriate touching and actions with their daughter," said Madison County Sheriff Erik Weaver.
The sheriff's office launched an investigation involving a 46-year-old man named Oscar Robert Lemens. The investigation showed signs of Lemens having sexual encounters with a teenager.
"To the Commonwealth's Attorney, we have seven different counts against him of carnal knowledge with a minor," added Sheriff Weaver.
The alleged encounters took place between June and September 2005. Investigators went to the Madison County school bus mechanic's Skyview Lane home, and took several items to prove their case. The man who is sometimes able to fill in as a bus driver when needed was arrested in December 2005.
Lemens was supposed to have a trial with only a judge present on Wednesday, July 19, 2006; but he requested a change.
"At this time we are waiting for the trial, and in two weeks he changed his mind. It was going to be a bench trial, but yesterday he changed his mind, and now we are going to have a jury trial," explained Sheriff Weaver.
The trial will take place in August.
A person close to the case says even more charges could be bought forward from the Albemarle County Police Department.
