After 28 years in law enforcement, a decorated police captain hung up her uniform.
Albemarle county police held a retirement party on Thursday for Captain Crystal Limerick. Limerick was the county's first female officer to reach command level. She earned 11 accommodations and on Thursday her fellow officers bid her a fond farewell.
“Everyone was so kind and gave me some wonderful gifts and said some very nice things. Of course I’m going to miss it a great deal,” said Limerick.
What she'll miss most she said is catching the bad guys. Limerick now plans on traveling and writing a book about her escapades in law enforcement.
