Virginia's election is about three months away, but already some candidates are pushing to get your vote. The 5th District congressional candidates got their message out to potential voters with a forum.

The signs were clear. Republican Virgil Goode and Democrat Al Weed were out to get your vote.

"I would support Al Weed because I think he is more intelligent about the issues. He's more relevant. He is more concerned about the issues that are more relevant to the people of this district," said Ted Jackson.

"I'll be voting to Virgil Goode because is an outstanding, respectable, kind, truthful man," said Sharon Jones.

The two congressional candidates for Virginia's 5th District shared the stage during a forum for the community. More than 200 voters were there trying to figure out how they should vote.

"I believe in a government that works for the people who are working for their families, and not against them," said Democrat Al Weed.

"I've been one of the chief proponents of increasing veteran's care. How do you get the money? I am not for increasing taxes," said Republican Virgil Goode.

Organized by the Senior Statesman Organization, and the Senior Center, voters were happy with getting to know the candidates.

"I think it is a very good idea to have both candidates appear jointly," said Jackson.

"I think it was a good debate. I think there were a lot of questions that still are unanswered, so we'll be following any future debates," added Jones.

Questions were asked on a wide range of topics from immigration to state economy, but not one was asked about the war in Iraq. Both candidates were happy with the outcome.

Goode and Weed were respectful to each other during the forum, but did offer a few jabs at each other. Each of them got boos and applauses from the audience.
