Charlottesville's new school superintendent spent part of the night out in the community.
Rosa Atkins greeted parents at the Westhaven Apartment Complex Wednesday night. Atkins said she believes educating our children is a joint effort between schools and families.
“What we want to say to parents: 'You can get involved without coming into the school. You get involved by what you say to your child by how you give attention to the homework that is coming home, the report card.' Those are very important ways of getting involved in your child’s education,” said Atkins.
Atkins said she plans on meeting and greeting more parents in communities across the city in the coming months.
