Starting Tuesday drivers along 250 will have another stop. The traffic light outside of Western Albemarle High School goes into operation today.

It was installed after a student completed a survey of his classmates. VDOT then honored the request. Western Albemarle administrators say it will also help during irregular hours.

"We're looking for it to improve the safety for our children, staff, faculty, and for the parents who use our school," said Chris Dyer, Principal at Western Albemarle High School.

The school will still have a deputy sheriff monitoring traffic during peak hours.
