365 Days Missing, Family of Alexis Murphy Honors Her Life

"She's just a great child, a great kid who had so much life ahead of her," says Angela Taylor, Alexis Murphy's aunt.

"It's just sad that none of her dreams and aspirations came true and that's why we're out here today so that she knows that her legacy will never die," says Taylor.

Family, friends and anyone who may have heard the name Alexis Murphy in the last year rallied together Sunday night on the Nelson County High School football field to share thoughts, memories and prayers.

"She is in those precious moments when you pull out something pink and you immediately think that's Alexis' favorite color. She is in your diligent spirits that lead you to keep searching for her. She is in our hearts united with one thought and purpose which is we'll never give up until we find her," says a family member.

The organization, 'Help Save the Next Girl' also showing support to the family of Alexis Murphy and the many others still missing.

The family of 56 year-old Bonnie Santiago last seen in Albemarle County shared their words of desperation to find her.

A gift was presented to the Murphy family from the art professor of Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old Virginia Tech student murdered in 2009. It was a portrait of their daughter with the words "Alexis as the next girl".

The family stood as a united front before the community, despite a year with no answers as to the whereabouts of Alexis.

The vigil ended with the lighting of lanterns, sending the love of Alexis Murphy into the sky.

Angela Taylor also commenting on the Randy Taylor verdict, telling the Newsplex her family feels the right verdict was handed down.

She added, that Taylor had every opportunity to help himself but waited to the last minute to offer any information into the whereabouts of Alexis.
