A female hiker was lost in Walnut Creek Park in Southern Albemarle this evening.
Albemarle County Sheriff's Department Search and Rescue team found her after searching for her by foot. Police dispatchers received a phone call from the hiker and were able to track her coordinates via GPS. She was more than two miles deep in the woods.
"She was fine. We did have rescue respond just to check her out. But, she is fine and she is headed home. I think she is a little hungry," said Sgt. Darrell Byers of the Albemarle County Police Department.
Albemarle County Police received the call at 6:30 this evening.
