Late Saturday afternoon, a kitchen fire erupted in a house along the 300 block of Cleveland Avenue in Charlottesville.
Officials say they were able to contain the fire to the kitchen, although smoke traveled to the second floor of the home.
The people inside the house were able to escape when the fire started.
"We've had numerous calls today, most of them have been weather-related. Broken pipes, water leaks and fires," said Charlottesville Battalion Chief, Peter Carpenter.
This was Charlottesville's second fire of the day.
