A woman charged with kidnapping two children from Madison County will remain behind bars.
Smith made an appearance in court Friday morning, and a judge ordered her to be held at the Central Virginia Regional Jail without bond.
Smith is accused of taking two children she was babysitting back in July. She was caught in Maryland and charged with three felonies.
There is a chance for Smith to make an appeal for bond.
"It is up to her attorney to decide, and to convince the judge, and Commonwealth's Attorney that she is entitle to a bond," said Madison County Sheriff Erik Weaver.
Smith will return to the Madison County courthouse in October.
