Albemarle County Fire Gets International Award

A group of Central Virginia firefighters were recognized in Dallas, Texas over the weekend.

The International Association of Fire Chiefs presented the Albemarle County Fire Department with an award acknowledging efforts to improve occupational health, safety, and survival.

The department has made physical fitness a focus as well as more training to make the entire team better. Three chiefs traveled to Dallas to accept the award.

It was the first time the Albemarle County Fire Department has won an international award. The Albemarle County Fire Department beat out hundreds of departments from around the world.
