Four professors with the University of Virginia have been awarded thousands of dollars in grants for their research projects.
In all, they will receive $555,000 from t Virginia's Center for Innovative Technology. The center provides awards from a fund to advance science and technology-based research, development and commercialization.
Computer Science Professor Kevin Skadron, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Professor Patrick Hopkins and Pharmacology Professor Mark Kester received awards from the matching funds program.
Cell Biology Professor John Herr received an award from the Eminent Researcher Recruitment program.
“The advantage of the funding that we have received is that it’s going to support a young investigator to continue the momentum that he has created in cancer discovery,” said Dr. John Herr.
The matching funds program is designed to assist the development of early stage research and technology with commercialization potential.
