Albemarle County Public Schools announced Tuesday that several area Elementary, Middle, and High School students earned honors at the 2009 Virginia School Boards Association's Central Virginia Regional Art Contest.
The event was held last week at Eastern View High School in Culpeper County. The judges selected artwork by three Albemarle County Public Schools students as among the best in the show. A Sutherland Middle School student’s first place piece will be on display in Richmond at the office of the state superintendent of public instruction. They also recognized an elementary and high school student with second and third place in their respective levels. This is the first time the school division has had a student place at all three levels of the competition: elementary, middle and high school.

First Place: Middle School
Chiara Martinez, grade 8
Sutherland Middle School
Second Place: Elementary School
Megan Petty, grade 2

Third Place: High School
