If you think you'll need heating assistance this winter, the City of Charlottesville is urging you to apply now.
The deadline is approaching for many state and city programs that can help offset heating costs. Home heating bills were 30 to 50 percent higher last year than past winters. As for this year, it's best to be prepared.
"We are not quite sure what's going to happen with home heating costs this year, but if folks struggled last year, we want to hear from them this year, so we can make sure we can get them whatever benefits might be available to them," said Sue Moffett.
The application deadline is Monday, November 13.
