At the request of nearby residents, a new traffic signal will be activated Thursday on Route 29 and Austin Drive in Albemarle County.
The three-way intersection currently has a flashing caution light, but several local residents asked VDOT for a full traffic signal for safety reasons.
VDOT studied the area and found there was a large amount of the increased traffic. The new signal cost over $100,000 to install.
