Charlottesville police say a 19-year-old was assaulted and robbed last night.

This is one of many incidents around the University since the students have returned to class.

Last night’s robbery allegedly happened along the 1800 block of Jefferson Park Avenue just before midnight. Police said two suspects hit the teen several times in the back of his head. The victim is recovering from a gash that required surgery.

There have been at least four incidents now where students have been robbed this semester.

Earlier this month a student was robbed and pistol whipped on University Avenue. Days before that, a student was shot in the stomach by robbers on Wertland Street. Another student almost had her purse stolen on Jefferson Park Avenue not far from where last nights robbery occurred.

Police are describing the suspects from last night as two black males. One allegedly has short curly hair and was wearing a red shirt with gold writing and the other is around 5’7” with a white t-shirt, white jacket and red hat.

If you have any information about these incidents, you're asked to call Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the Wertland Street shooting case.
