An Albemarle County police officer got a soldier's welcome today after returning to work from Iraq.
Major Dave Wallace of the United States Army returned to work as a police officer after being deployed for a year.
Wallace joined the department in 1996, but continued his commission as an Army reservist.
The Army major was honored with a bronze star for his second tour of combat duty.
"There was really no fixed enemy sites. We had an idea of where people were in different neighborhoods, and what they were up to, you could not really see them. A lot of it was like good old-fashioned police work," said U.S. Army Major Dave Wallace.
The Albemarle County Police Department saw four of their men deploy to fight the war in Iraq. All officers have returned home, and
each of them were given a brand new patrol car.
