Virginia State police are investigating a possible hit and run fatality in Orange County.

Just before 2 a.m. Virginia State Police received a call for a "hit and run" on Taylorsville Road in Orange County, just over the Green County line.

"The person that was operating the vehicle that struck Mrs. Abshire left the scene," said Sgt. F. L. Tyler Public Relations Officer for the Virginia State Police.

Twenty-seven-year-old Justine Elizabeth Abshire was having car problems and called her husband. He arrived about 20 minutes later.

"When the relative arrived around 1:40 a.m. he found Mrs. Abshire laying in the roadway and she had been struck by a vehicle," said Tyler.

The man went to a neighbors home who called police. Law Enforcement arrived to find her body in the road several hundred feet away from the car.

If you have any information you are asked to call Virginia State Police at: 800-572-2260.
