With only 72 hours until the polls open Tuesday, Republican incumbent George Allen made a campaign stop Saturday in Weyer’s Cave
It’s now down to the wire. Republican leaders from all over the state rallied behind George Allen Saturday. Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling, Attorney General Bob Mcdonald and running mate Congressman Bob Goodlatte spent the day giving their support to Allen.
A day Allen primarily focused on the issues, speaking against higher taxes and supporting the gay marriage amendment.
"The most important institution in our society which is not congress, but the family is under attack,” said Allen.
Allen briefly addressed the war in Iraq. Like many Republican candidates nationwide he never directly stated his support for the war, but said it’s important to support our troops. “We need to support the troops, support their families and we do want them to come home. We want them coming home as soon as possible.”
After the rally in Weyer’s cave George Allen made three more campaign stops in Lynchburg, Danville and Bristol.
