Despite Democrat Jim Webb declaring victory, the race for Senate in Virginia is far from over.

With all but eight precincts reporting, Webb leads George Allen by 7,634 votes.

Webb's victory proclamation came less than an hour after Allen told his supporters that the counting would continue into Wednesday.

Recounts are not automatic in Virginia, but a candidate trailing by less than one percentage point can request the votes be recounted.
