Along with Attorney General Bob McDonnell, the group celebrated 25 years of putting food on the tables of those in need with a luncheon at the Omni. Since it's inception, the group has distributed over 120 million pounds of food to residents in and around our area.
"Half the people that are coming to our food pantry, half those 129,000 individuals coming, they have people in their households working. So you can see it's the working poor, it's not the folks just trying to get buy on the system that doesn't exist anymore, Chief Executive Officer Marty White said.
