Albemarle County Police are trying to find the driver of a jeep, after it was found abandoned in the Rivanna River.
A passenger on a nearby train spotted the car around 9 o'clock Monday morning off Polo Grounds Road.
Seminole Trail Fire and Rescue sent a dive team into the water to search for anybody who may have been trapped inside the vehicle.
Assistant Fire Chief Dennis Hahn said the rough terrain made it difficult to get to the car. "We were able to bring units in from both sides to try and locate the vehicle," he said "We knew were the tressel was, it was just getting down to it to find the car."
The driver of the car could face trespassing charges.
Officials aren't sure anybody was injured, since they're still trying to figure out how many people were in the car.
