The Madison County Sheriff's Office arrested an alleged sexual predator Monday.
Officers said 29-year-old Russell Morris of Unionville had several on-line conversations with an undercover officer who was posing as a 14-year-old girl. Officers said Morris offered to deliver drugs to the undercover officer.
"Supposedly they were going to smoke some marijuana and have a party and see what happened from there after they smoked the marijuana," Madison County Sheriff Erik Weaver told us.
When Morris showed up at a predetermined location on Monday he was arrested. He is charged with conspiracy to distribute narcotics to a minor, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and possession of marijuana.
“He was startled and surprised and couldn't realize this arrest be made in Madison County,” said Weaver.
The Madison County Sheriff's Office said the arrest is part of an on-going effort to arrest sexual predators on the Internet.
“Sexual predators they look for anybody and our concern is our children if we don't look at out for our children who will look after our children,” said Weaver.
Officers later searched Morris' home in Orange County. They say they confiscated his computer and seized more marijuana. The sheriff told us if they find new evidence on his hard drive Morris could face additional charges.
If convicted he could face up to 4 years in prison.
