Son of Iraqi President Speaks at UVa

November 28, 2006

Qubad Talabani spoke Tuesday night at Wilson Hall. He's the son of Iraq's President.

Talabani said he doesn't want U.S. troops to pull out too soon because it will leave Iraq vulnerable to insurgents.

However, he does agree that Iraq should be held accountable for meeting certain standards.

"My opinion has always been to refrain from timetables, but we like the concept of benchmarks," said Talabani.

Talabani serves as the representative of the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government to the United States.
