Fire-fighters from around our area came together on Sunday to send farewell wishes to one of their colleagues.
Raymond James retired from the Charlottesville City Fire Department after over thirty year of service.
The East Rivanna Fire Station held a surprise going-away party for James.
He says that what he'll miss most is helping those in need.
“I don't like for anybody to have any catastrophe. But if it does happen, I like to be there. On the fires, that's part of the excitement of being a firefighter,” said James.
James says he plans to keep busy with a new job.
He’ll be the owner of a business called ABC Extinguishers that he started with his daughter.
