Tuesday morning a car crashed into Charlottesville's City Hall Annex Building. Police said a driver went down a set of stairs and into the building.
Charlottesville Police said an 83-year-old man parked his car in front of City Hall. When he left, he hit the gas instead of the brake and went flying down a set of stairs and into the front of the City Hall Annex Building.
The driver was shaken up, but walked away from the crash without any injuries.
There was minimal damage to the building. A sign on the curb was struck and the center railing on the steps was knocked down.
The building and the registrar's office were closed briefly, but have since reopened.
