The local Alzheimer's Association is making it easier for patients and care givers to get the help they need. Today they announced a new volunteer training program called "Memory U."
The eight month course offers care givers and family members support services training. Graduates can then become outreach volunteers, helping other families affected by Alzheimer's and dementia.
"What better teacher than somebody who has gone through this journey than to come out to some rural community to say I know what you are going through and here are some tools that can really help you," said Ellen Phipps of the Alzheimer's Association.
The program was made possible by a large donation from an anonymous donor. For more information call 1-800-272-3900.
