Charlottesville Tourism Launches New Branding

Charlottesville is showing a new face. On Thursday morning the Charlottesville Albemarle Convention and Visitors Bureau unveiled its new logo.

The logo represents a new branding strategy that aims to bring in more tourism money.

Based on research from the past 22 months, the bureau saw that visitors spend anywhere from $500 to more than $1,500. The new strategy is to target those who spend more.

"It's not about spending money to bring in the masses. It is about finding ideal visitors that will spend the most money to have the greatest economic impact on our community," explained director Mark Shore.

The bureau said they have a small marketing budget so targeting one specific group is a more effective way to spend money.
