Albemarle County is now charging Elvis Shifflett. The charges stem from a chase on October 20th.
Police began chasing Shifflett after a week long manhunt. It ended with Charlottesville Police shooting Shifflett.
Albemarle County is charging Shifflett with eluding police, grand larceny and possessing a firearm after being a convicted felon.
Earlier in the week, the Commonwealth's Attorney announced he would not file charges against the police involved in the shooting. Later Friday afternoon, Charlottesville Police Chief will announce the results of an internal investigation. We will have more on that investigation as information becomes available.
