Depending on where they were located, many homes and businesses were dealing with flood damage Saturday. Several businesses in the center of town are closed and will be for the rest of the weekend.
Heavy rainfall, mud slides and an overflowing Mink Creek made streets a river of water late Friday night in Scottsville.
Several people are airing out and cleaning out the bottom levels of their homes. Residents say in some places the water levels were more than a foot high. Many business owners came in Saturday morning to find their store or restaurant in water.
Owners say it's a huge inconvenience and some lost inventory.
"Just a few bat bags and some softballs that were on the floor that the water soaked up," said Brian Lafontaine, owner of Sports N More. "So really very little, the biggest loss that we had was all of our packing boxes that we had stacked on the floor, because we do a lot of internet shipping."
Donna Hale, who owns the restaurant Donna's Place had to close down, too. She says closing down for the day certainly hurts business.
"Because that's a day of pay we're going to lose," said Hale. "They're going to lose their day of pay and i'm going to lose a day of business."
Hale said they are going to try to open up at their regular time Sunday morning. Sports N More hopes to be back open on Monday.
