Some glitches in the area's new $18 million dollar emergency communication system will be repaired.
In April a new 800 mega hertz radio system replaced an outdated 30 year old system. The new system allows for better communication between emergency personnel, but there are about 60 buildings including the city and county police departments where coverage is spotty.
“There's coverage in those buildings, but we want to enhance that coverage and this radio system is far superior than what the old system was,” said Director of the Emergency Communications Center Tom Hansen.
Emergency officials say they waited to see which buildings needed the most improvements and in the process will save about $1.5 million dollars in repairs.
