"Today is like a regular summer day here," said Geoff Redgrave, Head Golf Professional at Wintergreen Resort.
"Being from Los Angeles this is your classic Los Angeles Christmas," said Richard Pietrowicz, a resident of Wintergreen.
Just because it didn't feel like the holidays doesn't mean everyone forgot who's visiting next week. Catherine has had her Christmas list in to the big guy for a while.
"A penguin kit and a dog and a pretend cat and a pretend dog," she said.
The summer-like day in December is almost a holiday gift in itself many people took advantage of.
“The weather here is fantastic,” Ed Fries, a resident of Wintergreen, said.
We're told the golf course saw a sixty percent increase of rounds played today compared to a normal day in December.
“We've got the tee sheet booked from nine o'clock to one o'clock,” said Redgrave
“We think it should stay this way all year, because it helps my golf game,” said a golfer.
Not everybody left the slopes and picked up their clubs. We still saw a decent amount of skiers and snow boarders, however with a little less clothing.
“What typically happens here in Virginia is you'll get cold periods and get warm periods, the nice thing about the warm weather is it's real nice to be out here skiing in tee-shirts and to be skiing in turtle necks,” said Jay Roberts, Vice President of Mountain Operations.
Some disagree; Catherine said she would rather ski in the cold weather.
“So the snow won’t melt,” she said.
Wintergreen wasn't the only place people took advantage of the weather. Golf courses here in Charlottesville were busy as well
