Authorities in Nelson County Friday called off the search for a missing Charlottesville man. Forty-five-year-old Mike Comer disappeared from his property at the Wintergreen Resort on Wednesday.
Search crews spent much of Wednesday and Thursday hiking the 13 miles of trails at Wintergreen, but found no signs of foul play and no signs of Comer.
The trails around Wintergreen were packed Friday and hikers said they weren't taking any risks.
"The kind of terrain that you're walking on...it's a lot of rocks," said hiker Adam Nettina. "[There's an] opportunity for runoff and you don't always know where you're going."
"The big boulders, big rocks," added fellow hiker Christina Leveque, "the more difficult [trails] you have to step up and, you know, it's not just an easy trail."
Authorities say they're now treating the case as a missing person and they'll keep an eye on the situation.
Fireworks and other Fourth of July festivities at Wintergreen will go on this weekend as planned.

According to Nelson County Life, officials Friday called off the serach for Glenmore President Mike Comer. Crews spent most of Wednesday night and Thursday afternoon looking for Comer who went missing while at Wintergreen.
Nelson County Sheriff David Brooks told CBS19 that they are still treating the incident as a missing person and that there is no evidence that indicates anything different.
Officials say Mike Comer, 45, went on a walk from his Wintergreen property around 12pm Wednesday afternoon and did not return. He was reported missing by his wife at around 7:30pm Wednesday evening.
While Comer has hiked trails in that area in the past, officials say they cannot confirm that he actually went hiking on Wednesday.
Nonetheless, as of Thursday night, search crews had covered all 30 miles of hiking trails at Wintergreen.
Comer is President of Glenmore Country Club, and has held the President role for five years. He also has been an acting General Partner for Glenmore Associates for the last three years.
Wintergreen Police and the Virginia Department of Emergency Management are heading the search.
