There will be a renewed push in the upcoming Legislative Session to allow two term governors in Virginia. Right now, Virginia is the only state in the nation that bars governors from serving two consecutive terms.
Governor Kaine and Republican Legislators are discussing a compromise to change the state constitution. The House Majority Leader said the chances of the bill passing are better than they have been in years.
For the Constitution to be amended, legislation would have to be passed in two sessions and then approved by voters.
