Two Virginia Lawmakers will introduce legislation they say will help save Virginia Wineries.
Last year a bill was passed that prevented wineries from self distributing their product. Many wineries said using outside distributors cut into their profits and made it hard to stay in business.
Republican Delegate Chris Saxman and Republican Senator John Watkins plan to offer a fix. Their bill would allow for small farm wineries, with a distribution cap of 3,000 cases per year, to self-distribute their wine to retail and restaurant outlets. They plan to discuss their proposal next Wednesday.
