A few plans geared towards smart growth are in the works.
One plan would determine what the maximum population the county could support is to help better decide land use.
All the transportation issues will be addressed, including a mass transit plan to reduce traffic in trouble areas.
"We took on the challenge over the last several years of trying to protect the rural areas of Albemarle County and to improve the infrastructure that supports our county and there are a number of specific proposals that are moving their way through the system that we're going to tackle this year," said Board Member, David Slutzky.
The board will have their first meeting of 2007 Wednesday morning.
At the top of the agenda is voting on a new Chair and Vice-Chair.
