Ricky Gray was indicted in connection with a year old murder case this afternoon.
He was charged with first degree murder in the death of Sheryl Ann Warner of Culpeper. Gray is already on death row, serving time for the murder of the Harvey family in Richmond on New Year's Day of last year.
Gray was also picked up in Pennsylvania for allegedly murdering his wife there.
Wednesday's court visit was one that created some concern for security officers. In response to that, Gray was handcuffed, escorted by several officers, and snipers were also placed on the roof for an added precaution.
"We looked at this as a situation that extra security was needed this was not just a situation of an average transport, we wanted to make sure that there was protection for all concerned," Culpeper Sheriff Lee Hart said.
He was given a court appointed attorney today and is scheduled to appear again on Monday. He is now being held in Sussex County.
