A judge handed the Albemarle County high school basketball referee who kept pictures of child porn on his computer a 60 year sentence Wednesday.
Most of that sentence was suspended and Richard Lakes will spend only one-and-a-half-years behind bars. Lakes pleaded guilty to 12 counts of possessing child porn. Police said they found more than 800 photos on the retired Army colonel’s computer.
Lakes told the judge he collected legal porn, but never solicited the images of children.
