Saturday and Sunday marked the 50th-annual Parade of Homes for the Blue Ridge Home Builders Association.

This year, more than 30 newly built residences are open for people to walk through.

Buyers got a chance to check out all of the state-of-the-art appliances as builders and real estate agents greeted them at the door.

“It's a great opportunity to showcase what we do as a builder, to show prospective buyers new technologies, new design ideas and also to show off new products,” Jay Kalagher, vice president of Stonehaus Residential. “This is a new design for us in this neighborhood. We did some new things to entice buyers to look to perhaps buying a home.”

If you didn't get a chance to check out the new houses on the market, the parade of homes continues next weekend Oct. 12 and 13 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
