For the second year in a row, Virginia Democrats will get another boost at the national level as one newly elected official will address the nation.

Freshman Senator Jim Webb of Virginia will deliver the Democrats' response next Tuesday to the President's State of the Union Address.

The selection was made today by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Webb spoke aggressivley throughout his campaign against the war in Iraq and has even been rumored to have snubbed the President after he asked Webb about his son serving overseas.

Last year's speaker, Governor Tim Kaine, says "our federal government should serve people, but that mission is frustrated by this administrations poor choices and bad management."

Webb said he was honored to be speaking. He also said "I hope the President will join us in bringing fresh, creative solutions that will truly move our country forward."

Webb will talk for about five minutes shortly after Bush's address to a joint session of Congress on January 23rd.
