This week the Eli Cook Band will headline Fridays After Five.

Eli Cook first picked up a guitar at age 14, playing blues and gospel shows in Nelson County. Over the years, his powerful blues voice has combined with soulful guitar and an aggressive rock punch. "Expect a lot of guitar playing, a lot of great Jimmy Hendrix sort of guitar work. A lot of hard rock, a lot of funk based stuff. So it's stuff they can dance to and stuff they can rock to," says Cook.

This rock trio combines classic blues based rock and roll with soul and funk for an unmistakable sound. Drummer Michael Taylor says the music sounds like "S.T.P. and a slight bit of Alice In Chains, as well as some Parliament Funkadelic, and a plethora of different blues artists."

The music is raw, powerful, and intense. It's music to rock out to in your car, or even at a wedding? Bass player Eric Yates says, "Weddings? No, you wouldn't do this at a wedding... Well, maybe at Eli's wedding?"

When it comes to a live show, the Eli Cook Band's performance is just as high energy as the music. Yates says, "If you want a good show, some hard rock, a little Jimmy Hendrix, a little funk, then check us out."

The band Pantherburn will open at about 5:30 and the Eli Cook Band will take the stage at about 6:30.
