If you stop by Monticello, the popular attraction will look a bit different.
Crews demolished the old ticket office Friday.
With more visitors coming to Monticello this year, the historic home is getting a new visitor's center.
The new 42,000 square foot visitors center will include a museum, classrooms and a restaurant.
“Our goal is to complete this in 2008. We'd like to get in here in November 2008 and perhaps a grand opening ceremony on Jefferson’s birthday in 2009,” said director of construction Michael Merriam.
The cost of the new building is $53 million.
