Central Virginia is seeing its first significant snow fall of the season. The snow began falling before 11:00 Sunday morning.
Police and rescue crews are busy dealing with several accidents.
VDOT reports secondary roads throughout the region are snow covered. Their crews have been on duty since late morning and are treating roads with abrasives and chemicals and plowing the snow. VDOT said they will work through the night and on Monday until roads are clear.
VDOT reports Interstate 64 in Albemarle is mostly wet pavement with isolated patches of snow and slush. I-64 in Louisa is reported in moderate condition, with much of the road surface snow-covered.
