Members of the Rockingham County sheriff's department are combing the county looking for the body of an infant who was reportedly put in a dumpster.
According to the sheriff's office the baby is believed to have been delivered by a college aged female in a public restroom.
The sheriff's office says that they got the initial information about the baby last night from acquaintances of the mother who were worried about her.
The mother has been identified, according to the sheriff's office, with the cooperation from other law enforcement agencies. They found that the baby had been put in the trash bin late Thursday night.
Investigators are trying to recover the infant's body today.
